Horta Marina, Faial Island in the Azores
- Here are some shots of life in this little part of the
world...

The Men chatting at the "old sea wall" - Some of the great
"art work" around the marina (it is bad luck not to paint a logo
of your yacht on the concrete somewhere in the marina before
moving on ) - Tim McKenna (who we originally met on the
Charleston Mega Dock and also on another boat in Bermuda ) and
Bob enjoying a chat ( his knee injury was the result of a bite
and allergic reaction).

-
Here I am rafted against "Teoma" who was
owned by a great English couple (Charles, Juliet, and their
lovely girls, Pip and Alice. A look over the old
marina area. Bob is assisting everyone on the rafting
group by attaching our stairs to the sea wall for ease in
climbing up and down (especially at low tide).
Here I am "stern to" against "ALMA" in
the new section of the marina (a "step UP") from rafting ( it is
only a matter of time to obtain one's private slip in this
marina...) but from this angle (Peter Cafe Sport) I look like I
am queen of the marina and out by myself! Here is
the Logo that Tania painted in 2002 (exciting it was still
there) when she came to visit Bob and the guys on Moonraker.
Pico Island (tallest peak in Portugal) on a rare clear day
viewed over the old sea wall!

We ended up moving myself three times within the harbor
until there was a private slip for me. This is normal
in this marina for "pecking order" assignments of
dockage. Pico Island currently does not have marina
facilities and so Horta is the place to be. Ferry
service to other islands makes Horta a convenient spot to be
secure. Here is the "Committee" boat ready to take the whale
boats out to race. Tania painted my logo near the
Moonraker one. Bob took a great picture of the full moon as it
arose over the marina.
